Fantastic fibre pics. Could almost say they're Pretty.
Bill has started the ball rolling to change gates to vertical bars rather than horizontal to stop those broken legs. Next challenge; to stop lambs playing on farm machinery and doing the same. How do you tell the oustanding animal? It has just broken bones or died!

Good Health

Nice work Gordon! Great to know where you personally sit with progressive breeding which broaches ALL facets of the mighty merino not just bits as to justify the true use of the phrase DUAL PURPOSE.

Firstly my quote, if you haven't had the chance to read the Stock Journal, reads as follows "commercial producers will be looking to select rams with a good bulk of wool" isn't this what all wool producers are striving to achieve after all 'bulk' is in reference to the quantity of wool fleece in weight on the table, baled and pressed. Correct me if I'm wrong but is also the result of plain bodied free growing, long stapled, lustrous, well nourished and aligned fibres on a plainbodied, easy care animal. Which leads me to the rest of my quote "They'll be looking for plainbodied, easy care, productive rams with quality fibre" end quote. No mention of 'studdy, rich or locky'. As for getting out the office, it's been that long since my last visit I may need a GPS navigational device to find my way back! Getting grubby, although the photos in the press, dressed in shirt and tie may tell a different story, I can assure you this is NOT always the case. Lastly 'rant from the agents'. Definition of rant; to speak or declaim extravagantly or violently; talk in a wild way; rave. I think not, I am careful to be measured in all that I say publicly and to date have not ranted about anything. PS Love the passion and involvement of this industry, wouldn't change for $$$$

The stuff on the left is what creates the gear on the right...A Mallee stud created the sire's fibre on the left with this poll entered in this year's CLASSIC'13 sale at the Murray Bridge Racecourse on MONDAY SEPTEMBER 9th at 1pm.

That fibre on the right, paddock presented and of a top client's special ewe hogget, represents low micron, density with length, softness and production with a test of 18.2 2.8sd 15.4cv% & 0.1 PF. Combine this with a fleece weight of 6.9 Kg at 10 months growth with a staple length of 110mm and there's nothing more left to say except.....

Reading this week's Stock Journal rant from the agents (25/7/13) regarding the observation that all studs have plained off/freed up enough and it's time to whack on the density, belies belief! It's time for these boys to get grubby and see what is really happening in the paddock with the ALL IMPORTANT EWE PROGENY performance, faraway from the show ring and ram sale blanket. Length and density are all as one with our style of animal and we do not need studdy, rich, locky, suinty, traditional yesteryear genetics to bang on fleece weight!

These animals are being sorted out as I speak with extreme rainfall events testing anything with incorrect density and nourishment and rich creaminess, bringing on fleece rot, flies, water stain and subsequent death! Come on chaps...outta the office and hop in the vehicle with me for a day and I'll give you a grand tour of why we do what we do with great success.
